I started drawing at a very young age, quickly graduating to color pencil, vine charcoal, oil pastels, and water colours, and soon amassed a number of prized ribbons for my artwork. At 11 years of age, I became the youngest member ever to be voted into the NCC NSTDP (Nation’s Capital Chapter of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters). After several years creating art in mediums that I did not find fulfilling, I rediscovered my artistic passion during a semester at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, in Washington D.C. .
After concentrating on other artistic endeavors for several years post-college, I returned to my first true passion, oil painting,
I spent my early years teaching myself to draw by copying the Masters. I have always seen the world in extraordinary detail, and this hobby satisfied my innate hyper-sensitivity, which I considered both a blessing and a curse. In fact, I see so much all at once, that, up until recently, I believed that I would not be able to paint well until my eyesight fails me. However, I am learning to live joyfully in the present, and Oil Painting helps me tremendously to live this life purpose.
I always knew that I would fall in love with the medium of oil paint; I love playing with its texture: blending, blocking in, thinning, and layering. I love using a palette knife and even finger-painting at various stages during the life of a painting. I consider my style to be both painterly and impressionistic. I infuse my whole heart and soul into each original work, sharing my journey with the world, in real time.
My aim is to one day be considered one of the Masters of color and composition. My hope is that my artwork will transform and inspire the viewer, through truth, goodness and beauty.
